Fernanda Loureiro

I'm a Black Brazilian mother, public health researcher, and certified full-spectrum doula. My journey into reproductive care began with the birth of my child. That experience led me to understand how important it is to have emotional, physical, and informed support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

My background is in science and public health. I studied Biomedical Science and later completed a Master’s and PhD in Public Health in Brazil. For over a decade, I’ve worked in qualitative health research, focusing on analyzing evidence-based information and promoting culturally respectful and safe reproductive care. I'm passionate about learning from people’s cultures and experiences and truly committed to continuously updating my skills.

My work as a doula and perinatal educator began in 2018 in Brazil. I served as co-director of training and research at the Association of Doulas of Rio de Janeiro. After moving to Toronto in 2021, I completed my professional training with Doula Training Canada. Since then, I’ve been supporting immigrant families through the unique challenges of navigating pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in a new country.

As your doula, I’ll be by your side with emotional and physical support, reliable information, and deep respect for your choices and health needs. I’ll support you in making informed decisions about your care. My goal is to walk alongside you, listening, encouraging, and helping you feel confident, grounded and supported in each step of the way.
