Psychological Prenatal Care: A New Partnership for Holistic Maternity Support

As birth and postpartum workers, we are always looking for ways to expand and enrich the care we provide to expectant parents. We understand that pregnancy is not just a physical journey but an emotional and psychological one as well. That’s why we are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Fabiana Nasciutti and Scarlett Sousa, two highly experienced professionals specializing in perinatal and intercultural care. Together, we are introducing Psychological Prenatal Care, a program designed to support the mental and emotional well-being of pregnant individuals and their families.

Why Psychological Prenatal Care?

Pregnancy can bring immense joy, but it can also be a time of uncertainty, emotional challenges, and adjustment. Psychological Prenatal Care helps expectant parents navigate these changes with confidence and resilience. This service is aimed at preventing perinatal mental health struggles, fostering a deeper emotional connection with the baby, and preparing families for the postpartum period in a holistic way.

Meet the Experts

Fabiana Nasciutti is a parental educator with a Bachelor Degree in Pshycology, Ph.D. in Education and a passion for family dynamics. Having navigated motherhood as an expatriate in Canada, she dedicates her work to supporting parents in fostering respectful and conscious parenting while maintaining their own well-being.

Scarlett Sousa is a Registered Psycotherapist, MA, BA specializing in Perinatal and Intercultural Psychology. As a mother and immigrant, she understands the unique emotional challenges faced by parents living far from their support networks. She is committed to creating spaces for emotional connection and maternal self-care.

What Does the Program Offer?

The Psychological Prenatal Care program consists of five sessions available in two formats:

  • Individual Sessions: One-on-one weekly online meetings (in-person if in Kitchener-Waterloo) tailored to the needs of the expecting parent and their support network. These sessions help address emotional preparation, family dynamics, and postpartum planning.

  • Group Workshops: A series of five thematic sessions in a supportive group setting (5–10 participants), fostering shared experiences, emotional support, and the creation of a strong network of expecting parents.

Benefits for You

  • Emotional well-being – Reduce stress, anxiety, and fear surrounding pregnancy and childbirth.

  • Stronger relationships – Strengthen bonds with your partner, baby, and support network.

  • Informed preparation – Gain insights into parenting styles, postpartum planning, and coping strategies.

  • Community connection – Build meaningful relationships with other expectant parents.

How to Join

One of the greatest advantages of this program is that both individual and group sessions are eligible for insurance reimbursement. This means that you can access this essential emotional and psychological support with financial ease.
